Grant Funding For SCINT Discontinued By Oregon CJC

On Tuesday, January 31st, the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team learned that the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission convened on January 20th, and voted to discontinue further grant funding for multijurisdictional drug task forces statewide. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant has provided funds for drug task forces for over two decades nationwide. The CJC for Oregon oversees the distribution of these JAG funds. Thirteen multijurisdictional drug task forces in Oregon are affected by this decision. All of SCINT’s funding is derived from grants. SCINT provides services to Coos, Curry and Western Douglas County. This will reduce SCINT’s anticipated yearly budget by $79,932.00 after September 30th, 2012. This decision will have a direct impact on the services provided by SCINT.
