Little Ole Big Band is Back!
by Josie Reid
Little Ole Big Band is back with big band tunes that will have you tapping your toes and humming along. Under the Direction of Steve Simpkins, the 9 piece band will perform such melodies as: “The Lady is a Tramp”, “Fly Me to the Moon”, and many more. Kayla Kintner is working with a group of dancers and is preparing a dance number to “the Entertainer” and people are coming back from all over to be in the show. Clint Guevara will be on spring Break from Southern Oregon, and Alexander Rich will come all the way from UC Davis to perform.
The stage will be set by Byrell Justice, and he will also be in charge of the Comedy team. Comedy? Yes, comedy. Big Band was originally based on Little Ole Opry, the Country Western Variety Show which takes the stage during the summer, and Comedy is an integral part of that show, so it just followed that comedy would find its way to Big Band too.
Performers besides Clint and Alexander will include veteran performers Cassie Justice, Kathleen Zappelli, Sally Kreitzer, Ken Graber, among others. Some newcomers to our stage will also be performing including Sandy Collins singing “Summertime”.
Sandy is no stranger to the stage, and we hope to see her in other productions at LTOB.
Little Ole Big Band will open March 24, 2012 at 8pm and March 25 will be a 2pm Matinee, and the following weekend there will be a show on March 31, at 8pm and a Closing Matinee at 2pm on April Fools Day.
