Chamber Opposes Home Rule Charter 143

K-DOCK 92.9

With only two weeks left until election day, the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce has voted to oppose the Home Rule Charter, Measure 143. The non-profit business organization issued a press release backing their vote saying the Home Rule Charter increases the oversight of county government by subjecting most major decisions to a vote of the people. Officials say that while it may be a noble intention, it will effectively stymie the ability of county government to operate efficiently. The release stopped short of an endorsement for the county administrator measure 144, however the board indicated there were better and balanced ways to make the changes to county government.
