A man that held a standoff with police earlier today is in custody at this hour. Coos Bay Police re-opened several access areas near 4th and Golden after 3 hours when the man was taken into custody. Police had asked motorists and the public to avoid the area until it was declared safe. The incident began around 11 this morning. The Post Office in Coos Bay was slightly impacted by the road closure, but a spokeswoman indicated that authorities were allowing customers access to the post office through other areas. Marshfield High School also closed their campus for lunch today. Authorities are preparing a press release with more information. As more details are released, we will make them available.
