Excess Storm Water Bypass At Myrtle Point

K-DOCK 92.9

Due to the recent rainfall, the city of Myrtle Point’s Waste Water Plant was inundated by a surge of storm water from inflow and infiltration into the sewage collection system.

The Waste Water Plant does not have the capacity to treat the amount of storm water that infiltrated the sewage collection system and therefore waste water was bypassed to the Coquille River at the outfall at river mile 34.

The Oregon Emergency Management System and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality were both notified of the bypass and signs remain posted in the area. The bypass will continue until the rainfall subsides. For more information, call Randy Whobrey Myrtle Point City Hall at 572-2626.
