The Coos Bay area Zonta Service Foundation has announced they are the recipient of a $1,500 grant from the Menasha Legacy Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation.

The Zonta Foundation will use the funds to support its Little Red Schoolhouse project that provides school supplies and backpacks to low-income students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade at Coos County elementary schools. “The Zonta Foundation is grateful to The Menasha Legacy Fund for helping us address a growing need in our county, “ says Brooke Yussim, Zonta Foundation President.

Since 1998, Zonta Foundation service funds, supplemented by grants from the Coos Foundation, Wal-Mart, and others in the past, have helped needy Coos County students start the first day of school with the supplies necessary to learn.

For more information, call Michaela Vonderohe, Chair of the Little Red Schoolhouse Project Committee, 541-217-1058.
