Movie Event Will Support Egyptian Theatre

The Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association, in partnership with Highland Light Productions, will present the award-winning movie Dancing on the Edge on Saturday March 23rd. The movie will be shown at Marshfield High School Auditorium at 5pm, with a reception to follow at 6:40 at the Black Market Gourmet.

Movie tickets are $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults. Reception tickets are $25.00. Both events: $25.00, Students; $30.00, Adults. Tickets are available at: Antiques & Collectibles, 235 South Broadway, Coos Bay; or at the door on March 23rd.

Meet the Cast: The reception will offer hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar. Those attending the reception will have the opportunity to meet some of the cast and Sandy MacKenzie, the movie’s author/director/producer. Dancing on the Edge, with a cast primarily of high school students from the Vancouver area, is the story of a teenage girl’s struggle with addiction and her dream of becoming a ballet dancer. The movie has won several awards including Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography at the New York City International Film Festival. The Indiefest gave the “Award of Merit” for Best Supporting Actor, Best Post Production, and Best Inspirational/Motivational Film. The Columbia Gorge International Film Festival gave the movie its “Triangle Award.”

All proceeds, minus expenses, will go to the support of the Egyptian Theatre Restoration project.
