“Superstars” To Be Recognized At Luncheon
The Coos County Friends of Public Health are celebrating public health week with a luncheon on Thursday, April 4th at 11:30am, at the Black Market Gourmet in downtown Coos Bay. Four “superstars” from the community will be recognized for their outstanding efforts and support of public health in Coos County: Maud Capps, volunteer with the Bandon Community Health Center; Kathy Laird, CEO of Waterfall Community Health Center and advocate for medical care for the uninsured; Michael Lanza, MD, supporter of the Myrtle Crest school greenhouse garden; and Judy Moody, former Director of the Women’s Safety and Resource Center and advocate for the prevention of intimate partner violence. The Friends are also honoring Frances Smith, who is retiring after 26 years with Coos County Public Health, and has served as the Public Health Administrator since 2001. The new Public Health Administrator, Nikki Zogg, will also be introduced.
