Update on Body Found in Empire

UPDATE from COOS BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT: On Thursday, March 14, 2013 at approximately 1241 hours the Coos Bay Police Department received a report of a deceased female in the area of 1088 Newmark Avenue.

Responding officers located the body of a female in a wooded area that appeared to have been there for an extended time. A multi-agency Evidence Collection Team responded to the scene and gathered clothing and other evidence consistent with items known to have been possessed by Holly Berry when she was reported missing.

Holly Berry was reported missing on January 4, 2013 when she failed to return to her Empire area apartment and did not answer her telephone. Berry was last seen in the area of Newmark Avenue and Laclair Street on the date of her disappearance. Several extensive searches by Berry’s friends, community members, law enforcement, and Search and Rescue were conducted but Berry was not found.

The deceased female has been tentatively identified as Holly Berry pending confirmation.

No indications of foul play were discovered.

The Evidence Collection Team is comprised of members from the Coos County District Attorney’s Office, Coos County Medical Examiner’s Office, Coos Bay Police Department, North Bend Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Myrtle Point Police Department, Coquille Police Department, Coquille Tribal Police Department, and Bandon Police Department.
