President Theodore Roosevelt is coming!
|May 15, 2013|
The flamboyant rancher, Rough Rider, big game hunter, and phenomenally popular President (1901-1909), impersonated by nationally-acclaimed actor Joe Wiegand, will appear one night only on the South Coast May 15th, 7:30 p.m. at the Hales Center at Southwestern Oregon Community College. All proceeds benefit the Coos Historical & Maritime Museum.
Following his 2008 White House performance as Theodore Roosevelt, Wiegand has appeared across the U.S. to wildly enthusiastic audiences. His irresistible humor, exuberance and extraordinary physical resemblance to “TR” make for an unforgettable live event. Short video clips of Wiegand as Roosevelt are available at www.cooshistory.org.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen by the Oregon Historical Socity as South Coast hosts for ‘President Roosevelt,’” says Anne Donnelly, Executive Director of the Coos Historical & Maritime Museum. “We appreciate OHS’s recognition of audiences in this region.” In addition to the evening show, the museum has arranged a free afternoon performance for Coos County 7th and 8th graders.
Wiegand is an accomplished Roosevelt scholar and the son of theatrical professionals. His performances at six Oregon locations this year are made possible through a grant from Wells Fargo Bank to the Oregon Historical Society.
Admission for May 15th is $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and $3 for children 12 and under. For tickets please call 541-756-6320.
