Workshop On Canning And Preserving Food

The Master Food Preservers of Coos County will hold a Canning 101 workshop on Saturday, April 27, from 10am to 1pm. Workshop participants will learn the basics of both boiling water and pressure canning: how to fill jars, load the canner, and more. The how-tos and what-ifs of canning will be thoroughly explored, as will food safety and the proper care of canning equipment. Participants are encouraged to bring their pressure canner gauges for testing. This free service is offered to the public year-round at the Extension Service. The workshop will be held at the OSU Extension Service, 631 Alder Street in Myrtle Point. Cost of the class is $10. Pre-registration is recommended by calling 541-572-5263, extension 292.
