A Bandon man is facing multiple charges following an alcohol-related injury vehicle crash. According to Oregon State Police, on June 8th, OSP and emergency responders were notified of a single vehicle crash off the Santiam Pass junction of Highway 126 and Highway 20.

The initial investigation reveals that on June 7th, 31-year-old Jeremy Lee Ward, from Bandon, left his home with his 5-year old son in an SUV. The child’s mother told OSP she called the police because she was concerned for her son’s welfare and that the father, Ward, had been drinking before leaving in the vehicle. OSP estimates that the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it traveled off the highway without braking and launched off a gravel berm, flying in the air for about 25 yards before crashing down an embankment onto lava rocks. Neither occupant is believed to have been using seat belts.

Ward has been charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Third Degree Assault, Driving While Suspended and Uninsured, and Failure to Seat Belt a Child Passenger.
