Cast members pose from the upcoming Bandon Playhouse production of “Grease.” The show opens Friday, Aug. 2, with a gala event featuring live music with Passin’ Notes, a classic car show and free cherry Cokes and rootbeer floats. Bandon Playhouse will revisit the 1950s when it takes the stage with “Grease” the musical the first three weekends in August at the Sprague Community Theater.

“Grease” takes place in and around the fictitious Rydell High School, Class of 1959. Head bad boy “greaser” Danny Zuko (Clint Guevara) and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski (Jenn Winchell) try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “Freddy My Love,” “Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee,” “We Go Together,” “It’s Raining On Prom Night,” “Sandy” “Beauty School Dropout” and “You’re The One That I Want,” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.
