Coos Bay Man Injured While Rock Climbing

An adult male was seriously injured on August 11th in a rock climbing accident at Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area about 24 miles northeast of Coos Bay. The man has been identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey N. Harden from Coos Bay.

According to Oregon State Police reports, during the afternoon of August 11th, Harden was climbing a rock wall near a waterfall when he fell approximately 30 to 40 feet to the rocky ground below. He was seriously injured and initially treated by paramedics at the scene before they took him a few miles from the park to a field where an air ambulance landed. Harden was then taken by air to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.
