Dutch Bros. Coffee Donating One Dollar of Every Drink to Local Schools
|August 16, 2013|
|5:00 AM||to||11:00 PM|
On Friday, Aug. 16, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Dutch Bros. Coffee at 149 S. 7th St. and 843 S. 1st St. in Coos Bay and 940 Virginia St. in North Bend will donate $1 from every drink sold to local school districts for school supplies.
“I think it’s great,” said BJ Hollensteiner, North Bend School District Superintendent. “One of the things we are seeing is it’s more difficult for kids each year to bring supplies to school, so this will really help.”
“The funds raised will be used to purchase backpacks, school supplies, hygiene products and shoes for students in need,” said Peggy Ahlgrim of Coos Bay School District. “Despite economic growth in some areas of the state, many local families struggle to meet the daily needs of their children.”
Dutch Bros. Coos Bay/North Bend is locally owned and operated by Brad and Heidi Young, who support various local causes and nonprofit organizations, including Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon, South Coast Food Share, Women’s Crisis Center, Waterfall Clinic, The Egyptian Theatre and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“The community has helped us to be successful, so we are in a position to give back and be supportive of the community,” says Brad. “We relish the ability to provide opportunities for people.”
Dutch Bros. Coffee of Coos Bay/North Bend will also have barrels available at all three locations if you would like to donate school supplies.
