Government Flat Complex Declared A Conflagration

Governor John Kitzhaber has declared the Government Flat Complex Fire burning near The Dalles a conflagration. The declaration cleared the way for the state fire marshal to mobilize firefighters and equipment to assist local resources battling the fire. The Office of State Marshal’s Green Incident Management Team and structural task forces from Washington, Marion, Hood, and Clackamas counties are on scene.

Oregon Department of Forestry and OSFM are working jointly on this incident to address the wildfire and structure protection needs. The complex is made up of three fires- the Blackburn Fire, 700 acres; the Government Flat Fire, 160 acres and the Wells Road Fire, 66 acres (contained). OSFM resources will recon and triage structures.Immediate protection will be allocated to the water treatment plant, which supply’s water for much of The Dalles.
Residents nearest the fire have received pre-evacuation alerts.
