The National Weather Service in Medford has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas and small streams in…Coos County in southwest Oregon…this includes the city of Coos Bay…Curry County in southwest Oregon.. this includes the cities of…Port Orford…Gold Beach..Brookings…

* until 845 am PDT

* at 1244 am PDT several reports have been received of high water on area roadways in the Coos Bay area. Additionally…rapid rises have been seen at the Powers gage on the South Fork of the Coquille river.

While rainfall rates will taper off through this morning it will take a few hours for recent heavy rainfall to finish filtering through the small stream systems. Therefore, high water on area roadways and on small streams will continue through mid-morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams…and ponding of water in urban areas…highways…streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams…and ponding of water on country roads and farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
