Amanda Marshall To Speak At Gender Violence Summit

Amanda Marshall, U.S. Attorney General for the State of Oregon, will be the featured speaker at the Say No Summit on Wednesday, November 20th at the Red Lion Hotel in Coos Bay. The day-long summit is hosted by the Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area, and will focus on gender violence. Registration is open to the public.

In addition to Ms. Marshall’s remarks, sessions on Wednesday will feature expert panels on the following topics: The Causes of Gender Violence and How We Can Break the Cycle, How to Shift the Paradigm of Gender Violence, Perspectives on Gender Violence in Our Community, and Sharing Community Needs & Resources, Discussing Solutions.

Zonta Says No (www.zontasaysno.com) is an international awareness campaign intended to support the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. “Violence against women continues to be a problem that transcends nationality, income, or education,” explains Margaret Melvin, summit coordinator. “This local event aims to focus on how our community can work together more effectively to identify the root causes of gender violence.”
