Burns Night Celebrates Centenary In Coos Bay
Coastal Celtic Society organizers were surprised to discover that its 12th annual Burns Night Celebration marks the 100th year since Burns Night was first celebrated in the Coos Bay Area.
This year’s celebration has added some new features. The Society’s newly built curragh, a traditional Celtic boat, will be on display. Scottish country dancing has been added during the social hour from 5 to 6pm. They are pleased to present their 2013 scholarship winner, 13-year-old Aiden Stephan of Port Orford, performing Scottish fiddle tunes. The program also features all the traditional elements of a Burns Night program, plus entertainment by bagpipers, harpists, guitarists and singers.
