At approximately 1am on June 25th, a fire was reported at the Riversedge RV Park in Coquille. Fire and Police Departments from Coquille responded to find a travel trailer in space 39 was engulfed in flames.

According to reports, a 59-year-old occupant was able to escape the trailer and neighbors in the park rescued a child from the trailer before the fire became too intense. Both the adult and the child were taken to Coquille Valley Hospital. The child was then taken to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. The adult suffered non-life threatening injuries. At this time, the child’s condition is not known.

A press release from Coos County District Attorney Paul Frazier reports that two additional persons did not escape the fire. Their bodies were found inside the trailer. The names and genders of the victims will be released after the notification of the next of kin.

Due to the fatalities in this fire, Frazier says he has asked the Oregon State Fire Marshall and the State Police Arson unit to respond to assist in determining the cause of this fire. They should be arriving late on the morning of June 25th. In addition to Coquille Police and Fire Departments, officers from Myrtle Point Police, the Coos County Sheriff’s office and the Medical Examiner’s office all responded to the scene. This is an on-going investigation.
