K-DOCK 92.9

The Coos Bay Library invites the community to “Lunch, Listen & Learn” during the week of July 21st–25th. In collaboration with the Oregon Coast Music Festival, the library is hosting a series of brown bag lunch programs. The programs are scheduled from Noon to 1pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to coincide with the following day’s performance.

The OCMF’s Associate Director Jason Klein will present lectures on some of this year’s selections and an insider’s look at how the orchestra functions. The featured talks are: Monday, July 21st: “If Music Be the Food of Love…” – Shakespearean Inspiration; Wednesday, July 23rd: “Murder, Mayhem & Mystery” – A glimpse into the conductor’s craft; Friday, July 25th: “From Russia with Love” – Famous Russian Composers. The Noon programs will be of interest to both festival ticket holders and non-ticket holders who would like to learn a more about classical music and the orchestra. Dr. Klein is currently the Music Director of the Saratoga Symphony. His introductions to the music add historical and human dimensions that delight both novice and knowledgeable audience members.

This program is sponsored by the Coos Bay Library Foundation. It is free and open to the public. For more information on the programs, call the library at 541.269.1101 or bay.cooslibraries.org.
