OCMF Offers Free Brown Bag Lectures

K-DOCK 92.9

The Oregon Coast Music Festival season continues with a variety of musical genres played throughout North Bend, Coos Bay, Charleston and Bandon. On Monday, July 21st at 12 Noon, the OCMF presents a Brown Bag Lecture with Jason Klein held at the Coos Bay Library, 525 Anderson Avenue. This is free and open to the public.

The only thing Jason Klein enjoys more than conducting an orchestra is discussing the music and composer. The Festival invites the public to bring a lunch and any questions to the lecture series on July 21st, 23rd and 25th. With expertise and his signature wit, Mr. Klein delivers a deeper understanding of the three classical programs to be performed during the 2014 Oregon Coast Music Festival.

On Tuesday, July 22nd at 7:30pm, the OCMF presents Orchestra Concert 1 “A Salute to Shakespeare” performed at the Marshfield High School auditorium, Coos Bay. James Paul, Conductor and Music Director of the Festival Orchestra since 1991, is widely acclaimed as one of North America’s most esteemed conductors. Mr. Paul has appeared with nearly every major American and many international orchestras over his career. A native of Forest Grove, Oregon, he studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Among his many awards and honors are the Serge Koussevitsky Memorial Conducting Prize and being named to the Cornite d’honneur at the Cercle Paul Paray in Paris.
