Reedsport Police Exchange Shots With Armed Man

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team, led by the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division, has started an investigation into Thursday afternoon’s officer-involved shooting in Reedsport. The man shot by a law enforcement officer is being treated at a local hospital and no officers were injured.

Preliminary information indicates that on July 17th at approximately 12:30pm, law enforcement officers from the Reedsport Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported disturbance at a mobile home park at 1000 North Eighth Street in Reedsport.
After arrival, the officers were confronted by the armed adult male suspect and shots were exchanged between the man and police. The suspect was shot at least once and injured. He was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital for initial treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

No other information, including names of law enforcement officers or the suspect, are being released at this time.
