AAA: Summer Driving Season Ending; Gas Prices Higher
Triple A Oregon reports that gas prices are up slightly this week, but may be starting to level off now that the summer driving season is ending. The national average for unleaded increases two cents to $3.84, while Oregon’s average gains a penny to $4.04. These prices are the highest ever for this month. But after rising 50 cents in 60 days, the national average has decreased. Gas prices increased from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest to begin September as markets prepared for possible supply disruptions from Hurricane Isaac. As concern over the impact of the storm diminished, prices in these states have dropped.
