Aerial Application Of Larvacide During Afternoon Of September 12th
The Coos County Public Health Department reports that Vector Disease Control International is planning to move forward with the larvacide application to the Ni-les’tun Unit of the Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge during the afternoon of September 12th.
The current schedule for today’s application is as follows:
Around noon, the aircraft will begin flights to calibrate the equipment on the plan, this will probably take a few runs.
The application will probably start a few hours later, it is likely that the plane may need to return to the airport to refuel during the application.
The product being used is granular and about the size of buckshot; therefore, drift should be limited.
The plane will fly about 40 feet off the ground during the application.
The schedule is dependent upon weather, and is subject to change.
Individuals from Fish and Wildlife Service, Oregon Department of Agriculture and Coos County Public Health will be among the people observing the application to ensure it occurs in the right location and in accordance with product label.
