Missing Person Wyman Weathersby
CCSO NARRATIVE: At about 2:00 AM on the 02-08-2012 Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies came across a 1997 Acura 2 door sedan parked in the day use area at the BLM / Weyerhaeuser Overlook, off Transpacific Parkway, in the North Spit area, north of North Bend. The deputy checked the vehicle and found that there was no one in or around it at the time. Due to the vehicle being in a day use area after hours, and other circumstances as to how the vehicle was found, the deputy ran a check of the license and found it to be registered to Wyman Weathersby of North Bend, Oregon.
A hasty search of the area near the vehicle was conducted by Sheriff’s Deputies and North Bend Police. No person was found nor any evidence of foul play. During this time, deputies learned that 59 year old Wade Weathersby, of North Bend was last seen 6 days ago, on 02-02-2012 at about 9 or 10 AM, by friends and neighbors, leaving his home in North Bend in his 1997 Acura, reportedly going out to the beach for a walk. He had not been back to his home since then.
Mr. Weathersby is 59 years of age, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with very short brown hair, a light colored goatee, and gray eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue denim jacket in his 1997 green Acura Integra, 2 door sedan. Mr. Weathersby is known to be an insulin dependent diabetic and did not take medication with him.
At about 5:00 AM, on 02-08-2012 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office activated Coos County Search and Rescue members, who met at about 7:30 AM to begin formal search operations at the location where the vehicle was found. Approximately 16 search and rescue personnel from Coos County SAR, Coos County Marine and Dune Patrol Deputies, BLM and Forest Service Law Enforcement personnel and a US Coast Guard helicopter from North Bend Air Station conducted search operations. Mr. Weathersby was not located and that search concluded for the day at about 6:00 PM, 02-08-2012 and will begin again on Thursday morning at first light.
