New Boat Wash Station Opens In Lakeside
The Oregon State Marine Board has dedicated a newly constructed boat wash station at Tenmile Lakes. The primary goal for this first-of-its-kind project in Oregon is to provide boaters a way to clean off aquatic vegetation either before or after launching their boats in Tenmile Lakes.
The goal for this project is to provide boaters a way to clean off aquatic vegetation before or after launching their boats in Tenmile Lakes. The station features two bays with cold water that moves through hoses that are mounted on spring-loaded auto-retract reels with low pressure nozzles. The wash water is collected in a 1,000 gallon underground tank with screens that trap any vegetation or other debris before the water is pumped into a sand-filled settling pond located away from the lake for filtration. A filter sock is installed over the discharge pipe and provides an additional filtration mechanism.
The Department of Environmental Quality has approved this discharge system and will monitor it closely to determine its effectiveness.
