Public sailing programs in Coos Bay include Battle Sails, Adventure Sails, and Evening Sails. Battle Sails are three-hour recreations of a typical 18th-century naval skirmish, with real cannon fire and real gunpowder (but no cannon balls). The crews encourage guests to verbally taunt their adversaries, and a victor will be declared. Three-hour Adventure Sails and two-hour Evening Sails are value-priced experiences for families that include a chance to help raise a sail, sing a sea shanty, and take the wheel of a real tall ship, conditions permitting.
