Auditions For Lion King Junior

New Artists Productions announces auditions for their Spring 2018 production of Disney’s The Lion King Junior. Show dates will be April 13 – 15 and April 20 – 22, 2018 at the Sprague Community Theater. The Disney musical adaptation is based on the Broadway stage play. Auditions will be conducted in the cafeteria at Ocean Crest Elementary and are divided over a two day period. Beginning on Sunday, November 19th from 1:30 – 4pm and ending on Monday, November 20th from 6:30 – 8pm. Those wishing to audition are not required to come to both sessions and may come at any time during the timeframes given, but earlier is recommended as dialog reading auditions will also take place from the play script.

Primary character parts would include: Rafiki, Young Simba, Adult Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Young Nala, Adult Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, and Banzai. Secondary parts include Sarabi, additional Hyenas and additional Lionesses. Ensemble parts might include the Grass and Jungle people, Giraffes, Zebras, Wildebeests and Gazelles. Ensemble members may play multiple parts. Those who wish to try-out for a primary character are required to prepare for it and then audition by singing a song provided on the website listed below.

A few words about being in the Ensemble – some who are thinking about auditioning do not want to sing – the Ensemble is involved in most of the songs. The Ensemble does not sing per se; the Ensemble ‘hums, chants and speaks phrases’ as a teammate to the primary soloist.

To prepare for primary character auditions visit www.newartistsprod.com and review the Audition Central page under Kids’ Corner. There are six songs available for listening accompanied by lyric pages. These songs will be reviewed at the auditions.
