Backyard Woodland Workshops


For anyone who is a landowner with 1 – 40 acres, interested in learning how to get started in the management and care of your property. Coos and Curry County OSU Extension Forester Norma Kline will be hosting a workshop alongside OSU Extension Specialist in Silviculture, Stephen Fitzgerald. The morning classroom session and afternoon field visit will cover stewardship and woodland planning, woodland health and care for trees in your home landscape. It will be held at the South Slough Estuary on Saturday, August 26th or in Gold Beach at the Curry County Extension Office Friday, August 25th from 9am to 3pm both days. Woodland Management: A Basic Forestry Short Course
 
This five – session short course is ideal for anyone starting out taking care of a woodland property. Topics range from assessing the property, understanding tree and forest ecology, tree planting, weed control, timber sale logistics and a field trip to see real examples. The series will be held in Myrtle Point at the Coos County Extension Office Wednesdays, September 6 – 27th from 5:30 – 8pm with Field Day Saturday, September 30th.
