Bay Area Concert Band Free Performance

The Bay Area Concert Band will perform a free holiday concert on December 7th at the North Bend Presbyterian Church on Pony Creek Road. The concert will be under the direction of Steve Simpkins and begins at 7:30pm. The program will include: “Christmas Day” by Gustav Holst, “Portraits of Christmas” arranged by Warren Barker, “A Christmas Portrait” arranged by Jerry Nowak and “A Fireside Christmas” arranged by Sammy Nestico. Sammy Nestico is an American composer, arranger of big band music and best known for his arrangements for the Count Basie orchestra.
Additional holiday pieces will round out the program. This particular concert is a favorite as it features small group ensembles playing special arrangements. Many were written by the bands’ Dan McGraw. It is a free concert with donations appreciated. The donations go towards maintaining the band and for scholarships for participating band members for private music lessons or college classes.
