Bay Area Teen Idol reaches 10th Season; Prepares for Auditions in May

Bay Area Teen Idol

Coos County’s premiere vocal competition for teens is preparing to audition for its 10th season May 16th – 18th. The program has run eight consecutive seasons after taking a hiatus following the first two years. Over 250 middle and high school students have participated in the summer, drug-alcohol-tobacco free event since it began.
Bay Area Teen Idol is a vocal competition that is provided to the community for little or no cost. Competitors are given different music genres for each elimination show. They are judged by a panel of local experts. Scores are tallied and the competitor and audience are given the results before the end of each elimination show.
Auditions for the 2013 season will be held at Coos Bay Fire Department conference room on Thursday and Friday (May 16th-17th) from 5:30 to 7:30, and on Saturday (May 18th) from 11am-1pm. Auditions are by appointment. Call (541) 269-0929 to schedule an appointment. Those auditioning must be between the ages of 13 and 18, enrolled in school and a Coos County or Reedsport School District resident. They must be prepared to sing without accompaniment (acapella) and with Karaoke. Karaoke should be brought on an MP3 player or CD. Visit for information, or call Stephanie at (541) 269-0929.
Bay Area Teen Idol is sponsored by the Commission on Children and Families, Fred Meyer, the Coos (Rotary) Foundation and K-DOCK Radio. Participants will compete for a prize package valued at over $2000. The season runs July to September.
