Board Members Needed For Learning Hub

The South Coast Region Early Learning Hub is looking for volunteers to serve on the Hub Steering Committee. Committee members should be residents of Coos County, Curry County or the area of Douglas County served by the Reedsport School District. The initial committee will have 11 to 17 members and the term will be through December 31st, 2014, with the opportunity to extend service beyond that term upon full implementation of the early learning hubs.

The Committee is required by law to have representation from the following sectors:
· K-12 Education
· Early Childhood Education
· Health Sector
· Human and Social Services
· Business Community
· Parents

Oregon Coast Community Action is the applicant to be the Hub agency responsible for fiscal and contractual obligations of the Hub. The Hub Steering Committee will be responsible for providing regional services for the region for children 0-6 so they are ready to learn when the reach kindergarten age. This will be a formative Steering Committee involved in developing the SCREL Hub vision, hiring a director, building the regional network of services, allocating resources, setting operational procedures and standards for the Hub and implementing the initial phase of Early Learning consolidation on the South Coast.
