CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Basic Training

The next CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training will begin on September 27, 2012. To register contact Brenda at Southwestern Oregon Community College, (541) 888-7328. You must register for this class before September 27, 2012 at 3:00 pm. There is a $35 charge if you want Continuing Education Credits otherwise the class is free to the public. In this class that will take place Thursday nights from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, you will learn Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, Incident Command Structure and Disaster Psychology. The class will end with a realistic disaster drill that will be your final exam. CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
