Coastal Celtic Society Presents Annual Scottish Burns Night

The Burns Night Celebration includes entertainment by bagpipers, harpists, guitarists, and singers. The banquet includes traditional Scottish dishes like Tatties and Neeps, Cock-a-Leekie Soup, Haggis and Trifle dessert, as well as Chicken in the Heather and top sirloin. It’s on Saturday, February 4th. Social Hour begins at 5pm, Program and Banquet at 6, at the Mill Casino in North Bend. Tickets are $35 per person available at the Gift Shop or may be ordered by calling 800-953-4800.
Burns Night is celebrated annually by Scots around the world in memory of Robert Burns (1759-1796), Scotland’s national poet and songwriter, perhaps best known world-wide for the song Auld Lang Syne. The Celebration is rich with traditional ceremony including the piping in of the Haggis, accompanied by pipe band and kilted swordsmen honor guard. Also Burns’ Ode to the Haggis, Burns’ Selkirk Grace, Toast to the Lasses and Reply to the Laddies, Singing of Auld Lang Syne at Evening’s End (with audience participation). Scottish attire is suggested but not required. Proceeds of the event also support the Coastal Celtic Society’s Scholarship Fund, a 501C3 charity promoting Celtic Culture through music, dance, education and the arts.
