Coos Bay Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of His Grandfather


A Coos Bay Man pled guilty to murder in the stabbing death of his grandfather. 29-year-old James Jay Thomasson reportedly stabbed 80-year-old Elmer Lloyd Dennis in December last year. Dennis’ body was found in front of a garage on his property. Thomasson was sentenced to life in prison with a 25 year minimum sentence. He will have to serve the minimum sentence before he is eligible for parole or any form of early release. Thomasson admitted in court today he intentionally caused the death of Elmer Dennis. The guilty plea was heard by Coos County Circuit Court Judge Martin Stone who then handed down the sentence.
