Initial searches for Campbell were conducted Tuesday night and into the early morning hours of Wednesday.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2012 the Coos Bay Police Department conducted numerous interviews and searches as a part of the investigation, developing information that Campbell may have gone to the beachfront area near Fulton Avenue in Coos Bay where she often walked. Officers from the Coos Bay Police Department conducted an initial search of the beach but did not locate Campbell.

On Thursday, November 8, 2012 the Coos County Search and Rescue responded to the beachfront area to conduct a search for Ms. Campbell. Two trained Search and Rescue canines were utilized in the search as was a Coos Bay Police Department canine. The US Coast Guard used a helicopter to search the area by air while the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Marine unit searched the area from the water.

On the morning of Friday, November 9, 2012 the search for Ms. Campbell resumed. In spite of cold and heavy rain, fifteen members of the Coos County Search and Rescue searched the beachfront and surrounding area with an additional nine members of the public also offering their services. The Coos Bay Fire Department provided a command trailer and the Salvation Army provided a Disaster Response trailer with food and beverages to aid searchers. Three more tracking canines were utilized for six additional searches today.

An intensive search of the beach and surrounding area was conducted but ultimately Campbell was not located. Major search operations are being suspended at this time after the exhaustive search of the beach area was completed.

At this time the Coos Bay Police Department and Coos County Search and Rescue are asking the public for information that may assist in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Glenda Campbell. Search efforts will be undertaken as soon as new information becomes known.
