Coos History Museum Hires New Executive Director

The Coos History and Maritime Museum has hired longtime Coos Bay resident Marcia Hart as the Executive Director. Hart, who formerly served as the director of the United Way of Southwestern Oregon, brings over 40 years of private, public and non-profit business experience to the museum.  She also currently serves as the president of the local Habitat for Humanity organization and was appointed as the county representative on the Southern Oregon Workforce Investment Board. Hart believes the museum is more than just a place for collections and artifacts. She says it is a place of connection and lifelong learning. The museum has been searching for a director after Susan Tissot retired in January. A new director was brought on board, but abruptly left, sending the search committee back to look for a replacement. The Director serves the board of directors and acts as the local “face” of the organization. The director is part of the leadership team that ensure the Coos History Museum meets its mission and strategic goals.
