Coquille Man Arrested On DUI And Other Charges

A man from Coquille has been arrested on DUI and other charges. A Coos County Deputy responded to a reported two vehicle crash at Fishtrap Road and Arago Fishtrap Road in Coquille on December 6th. The Deputy found the female driver of a pickup truck with injuries and the truck had substantial front end damage. The second vehicle was a Tahoe with damage to the passenger side. The male driver and an injured juvenile male had already left the scene in another vehicle. Brass knuckles and a stiletto knife were inside the Tahoe. The female driver was taken to Coquille Valley Hospital with minor injuries. The male driver who left the scene was located when he took the injured juvenile passenger for treatment to Coquille Valley Hospital.

The investigation indicated the male driver, 46-year-old Richard Eugene Dockery of Coquille, was reportedly driving under the influence at the time of the crash. After leaving the scene of the crash, Dockery allegedly stopped to purchase additional alcohol before going to the hospital.

A search warrant was served on Richard Dockery to collect a blood sample to determine a blood alcohol level. Dockery was arrested and later released in order for him to receive medical care. He is being referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office for the following charges: Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, First Degree Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Possession of Weapons by Certain Felons.

The injured 7-year-old passenger was admitted to Coquille Valley Hospital then flown by helicopter to River Bend Hospital for treatment of serious injuries received during the crash.
