***COVID Cases Fall Slightly***

The number of COVID-19 cases in Coos County fell slightly from statistics reported last week. Coos Health Wellness reports there are currently 19 active and 52 presumptive cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 144 since March. The hospitalize case remains on the stats however, officials say the patient is recovering and is likely scheduled to be released soon. When asked about the short time for hospitalized patients, CHW officials say it depends on the severity of the case. However many of the patients are being treated with Remdesivir. That treatment is a four-day cycle. CHW officials say they continue to be concerned that some in the county are not taking the virus seriously. The latest rumors that getting the virus creates herd immunity are simply not true. According to Dr. Eric Gleason there are still so many unknowns and the fact that reinfections continue to happen blows a hole in the “Herd Immunity” theory.
