Early Morning House Fire Claims Lives of Occupants

Two people are dead after a fire broke out in their home this morning. The names of the victims are being withheld by the medical examiner as the investigation continues. The Coos Bay Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 1840 South 19th Street in Englewood around 1:30 this morning. According to fire personnel, fire was coming from a window on the south side of the residence and was beginning to spread to other areas of the house. Neighbors reportedly informed firefighters that the home’s residents were not accounted for. The blaze was contained to one room of the house, however the entire house was exposed to thick, black smoke. Authorities say there were no smoke alarms in the home. The Oregon State Fire Marshal was on scene for most of the morning.  The blaze remains under investigation.
