Enjoy A Taste Of Broadway In Bandon

Broadway is coming back to Bandon, but it will be only a taste of the hundreds of musicals that have taken the stage. A Taste of Broadway II, the sequel to the successful 2010 show, at the Sprague Community Theater, in Bandon City Park, for a two weekend run beginning Friday, October 25th. Twenty-six show tunes will be presented by singers, dancers, and actors from New Artists Productions youth theater program. A Taste of Broadway II is the culmination of months of meetings, song selection, and rehearsals.

“The cast is extensively and diversely talented,” commented Anita Almich, who with her husband Dan co-founded New Artists Productions. “Each performer is integral to telling the story, presenting the music, and entertaining the audience.” The storyline, scripted by Haley DeAndrea, takes the audience on a journey to Broadway as it intertwines a bit of Broadway history among the life stories of the performers. DeAndrea, 2012 Bay Area Teen Idol, and Emma Wampler, 2013 Bandon Cranberry Festival Queen, are not only performing but are coordinating the vocal and choreography rehearsals for the production.

The audience will be reminded of classic Broadway tunes from familiar shows and introduced to some familiar tunes from not so familiar shows. “There is no surprise as to the exceptional quality and ability of our young performers,” added Almich. “Patrons familiar with our program and its 13 year history know they will see an excellent production.” Presenting wonderful music during the show are Callie Adams, Kristina Allen, Haley and Talia DeAndrea, Rachel Etzel, Claudia Jones, Olivia Kincaid, Autumn Moss-Strong, Emma Wampler, Becca, Dustin, and Emily Wilson, Daniel and Rachael Wood, Megan Wood, and Nathan Woodruff.

The performers will have the audience laughing, crying, and tapping their toes to the musical arrangements. They will showcase tunes such as Everything’s Coming Up Roses (Gypsy), Sisters (White Christmas), Seasons of Love (Rent), Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag (Chicago), Easy Street (Annie), Disneyland (Smile), Children will Listen (Into the Woods), Gimme Gimme (Thoroughly Modern Millie), I’m Not that Smart (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), You Can’t Stop the Beat (Hairspray), and I Remember it Well (Gigi).
