Father Receives 10 Years Prison Sentence in Son’s Death


47-year-old Michael Dean Bowman has been sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison for causing the death of his infant son. Circuit Court Judge Martin Stone handed down the sentence today on three convictions including First Degree Manslaughter, Assault and Criminal Mistreatment. They stemmed from the death of his biological son Dillan Dean Bowman-Gray who received life-threatening injuries when he was 4 months old. He died 2 years later in 2017 of complications from injuries that included extensive severe brain injury and subdural hematomas. His father, Michael Dean Bowman has remained in the Coos County Jail pending his sentencing. He’ll now be transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections. Following serving his sentence, he’ll be required to maintain 3 years of post-prison supervision. Bowman-Gray’s biological mother was also convicted of a lesser charge in connection with the child’s death.
