Fire Destroys Trailer In Coos Bay; Body Discovered Inside

Coos Bay Police discovered a body inside a travel trailer that was on fire in Coos Bay. The Coos Bay Fire Department responded to the fire at 1135 South 11th Street yesterday morning. Firefighters found the trailer fully engulfed in flames but were able to get the fire under control in approximately ten minutes. After the fire was extinguished, a body was discovered inside the trailer. The name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Coos Bay Police, the Coos County Medical Examiners officer, and the State Fire Marshall were notified. The investigation showed the fire started inside the trailer, caused by the use of a candle or cigarette. There were no smoke alarms in the trailer, and the estimated damage was $1,500. The firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.
