Update: Fire Closed Hwy 42 South-East Of Bandon

Multiple fire agencies are assisting the Coos Forest Protection Agency with a wildland fire on Highway 42-south, approximately 2 and a half miles east of Bandon. The fire is burning in timber slash. A spokeswomen with the CFPA reports that a helicopter from the Douglas Forest Protective Association was recently dispatched, so the firefighters are getting the blaze contained. The fire has closed the highway. Drivers are advised to choose an alternate route. No regulated use is in effect, according to the CFPA. If people want to use the forest, please use caution and thoroughly extinguish all fires. The CFPA says that dry conditions do exist, but you can still visit and explore the forest.
