Flood Warning Update For Curry County

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in Curry County in southwest Oregon…this includes the cities of Port Orford…Gold Beach…Brookings…until 645pm Thursday

At 6:48am heavy rain was falling in Curry and western Josephine counties. Heavy rain will continue through Friday afternoon. This will produce rapid rises and possibly flooding of small rivers, creeks and streams. Some flooding of roads is also likely.

The Chetco river should experience similar rates of rise as
compared to the flooding that occurred Monday through Tuesday November 19th and 20th. However…the river is not expected to reach as high as it did during that event.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. Take
necessary precautions now.
