Flycasters Hold Fly Fishing Expo In Reedsport


The Lower Umpqua Flycasters will be holding their 27th annual Fly Fishing Expo at the Reedsport Community Center from 9am to 3pm on February 25th. This annual Expo offers a chance for long term anglers and those who are new to the sport learn about fly casting through demonstrations and programs on various aspects of fly fishing, tying and casting. There will be displays by stream and fish enhancement groups, a concession stand with meals and snacks and more.
 
Dave Williams will present a special presentation on Smallmouth Bass fishing on John Day River. Over 20 fly tyers from Oregon and Washington will be presenting demonstrations and sales. Anyone who has questions regarding Oregon lakes, personnel will be available from the Eel/Tenmile STEP program, Tenmile Lake Basin Partnership, ODFW of Coos County and the CCA group. Frank Moore, international expert on Fly Rod casting will be helping young and old learn how to cast. This year includes two new exhibits: Project Healing Water Fly Fishing and Source One Serenity, both geared to military veterans.
 
This is the only event of its kind on the southern Oregon coast. This Expo is free and open to everyone. The purpose of the Expo is to promote conservation and introduce the sport of fly fishing to adults and young children. The club has members from Waldport to Gold Beach. For more call 541-759-2526.
