Fundraiser Nets Over $15K For ORCCA Program

The recent Mr. MHS Pageant had a record-breaking fundraising year netting $15,250 for Oregon Coast Community Action’s “Share Bear Snack Pack” program. With a talented cast, great leadership, and a lot of hard work the students exceeded their goal of $20,000 to fund local charitable efforts. In addition to the check for the Share Bear Snack Pack Program, the group also gave $1000 to “Relay for Life”, “Team Nat” and provided more than 20 holiday baskets for needy families this year.

The months-long effort was crowned with a stellar pageant on April 12th in the MHS Auditorium complete with costumes, dancing, speeches, and a delighted audience. Taylor Dornbusch received the Mr. Congeniality Award, Tracee Scott received Best Senior Girl, Quentin Kirk received most Talented, Ty Bunnell received the most Money Raised Award. At the end of the pageant Ty Bunnell was crowned the Mr. MHS.

“It is impressive to see the level of dedication and enthusiasm Mr. MHS participants have for supporting the vulnerable children served by ORCCA’s Share Bear Snack Pack Program,” said Deborah Ross, Development Director for ORCCA. “I am so grateful for the Mr. MHS program.”

“This is the kind of support that makes a big difference to all of us who work at ORCCA,” said Mike Lehman, Executive Director of ORCCA. “But it also makes a big difference to the people we serve. The Share Bear Snack Program, for example, provides over 750 at-risk children with a weekly Snack Pack.”
