High Surf Advisory In Effect From Now Until 5 This Afternoon

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a High Surf Advisory-in effect from 5am Tuesday morning, September 27th until 5pm Tuesday afternoon.  Heavy swells from the Gulf of Alaska are forecasted to move into the southern Oregon coast area this morning. Expect breaking waves to reach approximately 21 to 22 feet near the shore. Dangerous breaking wave will impact the coastal areas through this afternoon. These waves will impact beaches, rocks and jetties especially at high tide-which is from late this afternoon near Brookings to early this afternoon near Reedsport. These breaking waves have the potential to wash over jetties. The High Surf Advisory is in effect from now until 5pm this afternoon.
