High Surf Warning

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a high surf warning…which is in effect from 1 am to 10 am PST Thursday. * Waves and surf…wind waves will build Wednesday night with breakers peaking at 20 to 28 feet early Thursday morning. The highest surf is expected along south facing ports and beaches…and will result in hazardous conditions and dangerous rip currents. * Timing…waves will increase Wednesday night…peaking early Thursday morning. * Impacts…wave run-up on beaches will increase Wednesday night and remain high through Thursday morning. The risk of dangerous rip currents will increase. People should use extra caution near the beaches and stay off jetties. Conditions will be especially dangerous during high tides…which occur around 1 am PST and 12 PM PST Thursday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A high surf warning indicates that dangerous…battering waves will pound the shoreline. This will result in very dangerous swimming conditions…and deadly rip currents.
